16X9 exported QT movie problem in Final Cut Pro

16X9 exported QT movie problem in Final Cut Pro

Postby tubeman » Sat Dec 12, 2009 6:49 pm

I have downloaded the demo version of PulpMotion Advanced to see if I can use it to make widescreen 16X9 videos. When I make the movie in PulpMotion Advanced the screen is filled out nicely in 16X9. I am using the Elastic template to insert the pictures over the background. They appear to be centered and I export the movie to DV-NTSC. I then import the Quicktime movie file into the Final Cut Pro timeline and the movie doesn't fill up the screen fully leaving black at the top and bottom of the screen. Also the pictures are no longer centered in the screen as they are being cropped at the bottom. I would like to buy the program if I can correct this problem. I currently use PulpMotion but would like use the 16X9 aspect in PulpMotion Advanced. Can you please advise me on if this problem is fixable and if so how can I do it? Thank you very much.

Select the Aspect Ratio panel, then make certain the Safe Frame box is checked and the aspect ration is set to 16:9. That should do the trick.

Hi,
How does the export look like in Quicktime player ?

We are working on PulpMotion 3 and there will be a new system to handle the aspect ratio and the export size far more simple than the current one.

Best regards,

The export looks fine in the Quicktime player. It fills up the whole Quicktime screen. I import it into Final Cut Pro and when I put it on the timeline it doesn't fill up the screen it looks letterboxed and the picture that is centered over the background is no longer centered as it has moved towards the bottom of the screen and it is clipped off at the bottom. I sent you a screengrab of the problem to your email address but you never responded.
